| Wemby is on the wrong path. He & Popovich should understand that he shouldn't attempt that many 3's and being good at 3's isn't that important. In fact, even if he shoots 3's as good as Curry, he shouldn't do that often since he is giving up significant offensive rebound opportunities by staying that far away from the hoop. Let's look at the other 2 MVP big: Jokic & Embiid. Jokic excels in ordination of offense and only averaged 3 3-point attempts per game (35.2%). Embiid excels in offensive efficiency and averaged 3.5 3-point attempts per game (37.9%). They both played 33-34 min per game. Wemby averaged 5.5 3-point attempts (only 32.2%) in 29.5 minutes. Wemby should spend more time grabbing offensive rebound, instead of shooting 3's. He only averaged 2.3 offensive rebound and it's low for his figure and capability, obviously because he spent too much time in the perimeter shooting 3's. He also needs to protect his ball better and cut down on turnovers, which is bad. More big men are joining NBA this off season, like Clingan & Edey, and at this rate, I don't think the Spurs will be in the playoff, much less championship race, during the next couple of seasons.... |
