Survivor is thethird studio album by American girl group Destiny's Child. It was firstreleased by Columbia Records on May 1, 2001, in the United States. The albumfeatures production by lead singer Beyoncé Knowles and J.R. Rotem, withadditional production from Poke & Tone, Cory Rooney and Mark J. Feist. Fivesingles were released from the album: "Independent Women Part I","Survivor", "Bootylicious", a cover of Samantha Sang's"Emotion", and "Nasty Girl".
In the US, the albumdebuted at number one on the Billboard 200 chart on May 19, 2001 withfirst-week sales of 663,000 copies and stayed at number one for two consecutiveweeks. It earned Destiny's Child two Grammy nominations for Best R&BPerformance by a Duo or Group with Vocals, and Best R&B Album. Survivor wascertified quadruple Platinum by the RIAA on January 7, 2002. Billboard rankedSurvivor at number 70 on the magazine's Top 200 Albums of the Decade.[3] Thealbum has sold over 4.7 million copies in the United States and 12 millioncopies worldwide.
