Rocket Man: The Definitive Hits was originally released in 2007 to celebrate the great Elton John's 60th birthday. The album was certified platinum in the UK in 2010. In the US the album was certified platinum in November 2014.
This is indeed a fine collection, but with 18 tracks you're not going to cover all the great songs that Elton John and Bernie Taupin have written over the past 40 years. However, it's a fine way to introduce yourself to one of the UK's finest and most popular song-writing teams. And if you haven't bothered to listen to Elton up to now this is a good place to start.
Elton John is known for his incredible flair when it comes to song writing, and this album has some of his best work all laid down for you. Sit, listen and enjoy while also reviewing how distinctly his style slightly changes and his voice matures from track to track and also with the passing years.
